Water Safety 101

Tragically, drowning is the leading cause of accidental death among Kern County children under age 6 and the second leading cause for all children under age 18. A drowning can happen in seconds and typically occurs when a child is left unattended or during a brief lapse in supervision. A child can drown in just a few inches of water--within seconds--often without any splashing or screaming.
