The Great American Smokeout

Many of us are aware that tobacco use is tied to a number of serious health problems and has a major impact on the health of a large number of Americans. Cigarette smoke is the leading cause of preventable deaths in the country accounting for nearly one of every five deaths ("Adult Cigarette Smoking"). However, in 2008 it was estimated that 16% of all adults in Kern County smoked cigarettes . This November 20th, the American Cancer Society celebrates the Great American Smoke Out. On this day, people across the nation are encouraged to either quit or begin their plan to quit ("The Great American Smokeout"). Quitting smoking is not something that can achieved in one day.
